With a dozen or so backpackers on our bus, I was a bit worried that we wouldn't find a sobe (pension) for the night. When we arrived at Hvar at 11pm, a single sobe owner stood at the stop. Before the other backpackers even had time to get their bags out of the bus, we had acquired his two rooms for 60 kuna each.

For the next few hours, we walked around town. Unfortunately, it's beautiful cultural heritage had made this a popular tourist site more than a century ago, so I didn't particularily find the loud Americans at the cafes pleasing. But away from the cafes, down the narrow streets of stone, it was very quiet and peaceful.
