Not soon after I had arrived at the Jaz campsite did I meet Lydia and Heimlich from Germany. Although highly unusual in other places in Europe due to the current political situation, their eyes lit up when I told them I was an American. I soon found out why: Lydia told me she lived in East Berlin during the Cold War. There you have it. Thank you, President Reagan.

Lydia and Heimlich were apart of a traveling entourage of Germans. They were all old enough to be my Grandparents and yet they were more adventurous than some twenty-something backpackers I've met. Albiet they were driving in luxurious recreational vehicles, but who can question their adventurous spirits when their next stop was in Albania!

They were the nicest of people, bringing me breakfast in bed: a nice hot cup of Nescafe and three small ham & cheese sandwiches. Later in the morning, their kindness entered the realm of sainthood when they agreed to drop me off in Budva. I don't know how I would have gotten out of that hell hole if it wasn't for them.
