...the buildings have seen better days. Even after almost nine years of peace, the buildings here are still in ruin. A old, sunbleached UNHCR sticker on one of this building's broken windows revealed to me that it was here where the Croats housed just a few of the one million refugees and exiles created by the war. According to their website, UNHCR had been directly involved in the resettlement of some 47,000 refugees from former Yugoslavia by June 1997.
