I didn't know what to expect when I arrived at the Stansted Airport at 11:30p. I had hoped to be able to find a quiet place to sleep before taking a 6am flight to Italy. Little did I realize that my intentions were shared by most of the late-night visitors of the airport, which has been nicknamed Stansted Hostel by budget travellers. By 1a, all of the benches had been claimed by horizontally positioned travellers. Those who couldn't find a bench had to make do with reluctantly unrolling their sleeping bags onto the cold, tiled floor. Some had no hesitations at all in blowing up their air matresses and/or setting up their tents right in the middle of the cavernous airport.
