Speaking of my room, the house in the center of the photo is where I stayed for the night. I didn't want to stay in any of the large 200+ room hotels with spas and sports bars located in the park. And it was a 5-mile hike to the nearest campsite. So I relied on finding a sobe in the small village of Mukinje, about a mile south of the second entrance to the park. The first person I spotted when I came out of the forest and into the town was a woman hanging up laundry. She stared at me with wide eyes as I tried to explain to her that I was looking for a room. She lead me upstairs into a fully furnished apartment available for me to use! A 1 bed/1 bath apartment, including a family room with a tv, cost 100 Kuna a night. Heaven!
