The early morning of May 16th was the wettest day of my trip. At first, it didn't bother me and I had a enjoyable walk along the road underneath a tree canopy to the northern section of the park. That is, until the rain really started to come down! From my journal: 10:33a: To say that I am wet from the rain would be understating matters. If it wasn't for my waterproof boots & rain jacket, I would be wetter now than when I took a bath a few hours ago. The sky has opened up and who knew that it was holding so much water. If I knew, I might have called it quits an hour ago, walked back to my room, packed up, and took the next bus out of here. Maybe I'm just saying that because I'm soaked to the bone, but thank god for this covered picnic table along the trail or I might soon need to grow gills in order to survive.
