I decided to go to Zadar because I heard that it's stari grad looks like a large ship docked to the bay. Indeed, the peninsula does have that feel to it when arriving from the north and walking over the bridge. Although Zadar was crowded, most of the people were locals and not tourists. Mothers pushing strollers, groups of children on school fieldtrips, workers on their lunch breaks and beautiful Dalmatian women shopping added a great atmosphere to the older sections of the city.

My favorite area of the Zadar peninsula is the tip, which is mainly a residential zone. Wearing my large blue backpack forever nicknamed "The Beast", I stuck out like a blueberry in a bowl of cherries, but it brought a smile to my face when a local nine year old girl waved and said "hello" (in English) when I walked through her neighborhood. My favorite site in Zadar is the Franciscan monastery on Bozidara Petranovica Street near the SW corner of the peninsula.
