Mount Vesuvius, Italy:

One of my personal goals I had on my journey across Europe was to climb Mount Vesuvius. Not just the top portion of the 4,200-foot (1,281 meter) cone, which is accessable (to a point) by vehicle, but from the bottom, some 7 miles (11 kilometers) lower.
