I spent about 35 hours in Gent, Belgium. It was such a great, safe, clean, and tourist-free little town. I showed up on the day of the annual "Dancing Cow Festival," a festival that has been celebrated on and off for the past 500 years or so. Ironically, the place I enjoyed the most, a 800 year old abbey on the edge of town, was the destination for a parade! I had just finished spending a quiet morning in the abbey and had walked down the street a block before seeing the approaching parade. I decided to follow the procession (lead by a cow) and it ended up right back where I started! (you can see to the left the before and after shots of the abbey). Serendipity at it's best.
