In the small town of Münster I had my first contact with someone I knew since leaving the U.S 13 days earlier. (but it felt like a year) Tini is a German friend who I worked with in the States during the summer. While she worked during the day, I lounged around her great little apartment and watched German MTV for most of the morning and into the afternoon. In the evening, Tini and I would explore Münster together - even though she knew the in's-and-out's like the back of her hand. She is a great friend.

Münster was also the first city where I visited a U.S. Embassy since Paris. I was amazed to see such support. Flowers, candles, and notes of love were placed on the steps of the Rathous (City Hall). Tini says that within two days, the city of Münster had made a permanent marble plaque that reads "VIR TRAUERN MIT DEM AMERIKANISCHEN VOLK" (translated: "We mourn for the Americans")
