» Departing Tonight!

The day is here! I've got my bags packed and I'm ready to go. There's just a little thing called "work" I need get though today, but then I'm off.

I went to REI, my favorite store in the world, to pick up some last-minute items. A small travel toothbrush, a $7 watch, a bottle of deet bug repellent, some holiday Clif Bars... you know, small stuff. Unfortunately, I stayed too long, looked around too much, and ended up purchasing over $100 of stuff! It's OK though - I needed a new daypack anyway. The one I found is perfect for my needs. It has pockets galore, padded back and shoulder straps, and a waist belt. I hope one day to be able to travel with just this bag, but that day is not today. I think I kept my goal of keeping my main backpack weight to less than 40 pounds. It feels like nothing to me due to the relation of the bag's weight to my own.

I arrive into Managua tomorrow afternoon after a red-eye flight through Miami. I hope to find Internet access tomorrow night to check in.
