» Home Again - Photos, Video & GPS
  December 20th, 2006

I suppose if you guys were simply tracking my progress based on my blog entries, you would assume I was still in Nicaragua. Unfortunately, that is not the case. I got back to Southern California late Thursday night and was thrown back into the daily spin of things. It was a fantastic trip where friendships were born and adventure was had. I hope to keep in touch with people from Germany, Israel, New Zealand, Ireland, Australia, and England. I visited three volcanoes, one which I sled down (Cerro Negro), one which I summited on my birthday at sunrise (Telica), and one in which I strapped on scuba gear and explored underwater (Apoyo). I'll still be dreaming of these memories long after the tan fades and the bites and scratches heal.

Having been back for a week now, I've had the chance to review my trip. Budget wise, I ended up spending just US$420 in 14 days, averaging just $30 a day.

I took just under 550 photos in Nicaragua, which is a far cry from what I usually take. In the same time frame, I took over 1,500 in South America. I suppose I spent more time living the journey rather than photographing it. I've put most of my photos from my trip up online. Check them out here on flickr.com and let me know what you think.

I have also placed some of the videos I took with my digital camera up onto YouTube. You can view them here.

My GPS unit worked like a charm. Click here to see where I went with my GPS unit (requires Google Earth).

Finally, I will be discussing my journey in the new year with the public. If you're in the area, you are welcome to come by Distant Lands Travel Bookstore and Outfitters at 7:30pm on Monday, January 22nd. Seating will be limited so I suggest contacting them by phone or e-mail to RSVP.

Feel free to drop me a line or an e-mail if you have any questions about my trip.

As always, thanks for reading,
~K
